TX22 Weighted Back Plate / Rate Reducer – 1.33 oz Stainless Steel

Price range: $59.99 through $64.99

Fix TX22 cycling issues with a suppressor or FRT. This 1.33 oz stainless steel weighted back plate (also called a rate reducer or slide weight) adds rear mass to the TX22’s lightweight slide for smoother, more consistent cycling. It’s a drop-in replacement for the factory back plate, with no recoil spring change needed.

Description

Why Your TX22 Needs a Weighted Back Plate

The Taurus TX22 has one of the lightest slides of any rimfire pistol. That’s great out of the box. Add a suppressor or a forced reset trigger (FRT), though, and the slide can start cycling too hard and too fast. The results are failures to feed, stovepipes, double feeds, and extra wear on the frame.

A TX22 weighted back plate replaces the factory back plate with a stainless steel one. The added mass slows the slide so it returns to battery under control, strips the next round cleanly, and cycles consistently. That’s why it’s also called a TX22 rate reducer or TX22 slide weight.

Why 1.33 oz?

More weight is not always better. Heavier plates can make the pistol short-stroke with lighter loads, and they often mean swapping recoil springs to compensate. We tested to find the weight that keeps the TX22 running reliably with suppressors and FRT systems, with no spring change. That weight is 1.33 oz.

The result is a plate that fixes over-cycling on every TX22 model and works with your factory recoil spring.

Installation

The weighted back plate replaces your TX22’s factory back plate. It needs no gunsmithing, no permanent modification, and no recoil spring change, and you can reinstall the factory plate at any time. Always unload the pistol and confirm the chamber is empty before you start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a TX22 weighted back plate do?

It adds mass to the rear of the slide, which slows slide velocity. That reduces the over-cycling caused by suppressors and FRTs, which in turn helps prevent failures to feed, stovepipes, and battering of the frame.

Is a weighted back plate the same as a rate reducer or slide weight?

Yes. For the TX22 the terms mean the same thing: a heavier back plate that slows the slide down.

Which TX22 models does it fit?

All of them: the original TX22, TX22 Gen 2, TX22 Compact, TORO, and Competition models.

Why is yours 1.33 oz when others are 2.0 oz or more?

Through our testing, 1.33 oz gave the best balance. It slows the slide enough for reliable suppressed and FRT use without making the pistol short-stroke or requiring a spring change.

Do I need to change my recoil spring?

No. The plate is designed to run with the factory recoil spring.

Will it work without a suppressor?

Yes. It’s designed to run suppressed, unsuppressed, and with FRT systems.

Is installation permanent?

No. It replaces the factory back plate and can be swapped back at any time.

How fast does it ship?

In-stock items ship the next business day.

What is your return policy?

Unused, uninstalled parts in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery. See our full return policy.
